"Melbourne Operatic is a selection of recent video works infused with a sense of humour and a touch of melodrama. Using themselves as readily available subjects in their work, these artists can dramatise their own lives and surroundings, or insert themselves into a TV or movie inspired form of heightened existence.

This program of four short video pieces moves from the mundane to surreal, with a pervading sense of unease balanced by moments of oddball comedy and pop soundtracks.

Curated by Rosemary Forde for Pilot projects, Melbourne Operatic is currently on exhibition at Te Tuhi Centre for the Arts, New Zealand.
This is the only Melbourne screening of the program.
